Since my birthday is near Christmas, sometimes it kind of blurs the lines between what is birthday and what is Christmas. I don’t mind, though, any present is a good one.
My husband gave me a wonderful birthday/Christmas gift: a $50 gift card to Neiman Marcus.
Actually, I don’t shop at NM, but I have gone to NM’s Last Call several times.
Last Call is a store, this one at Great Lakes Crossing Mall, that sells NM clearance—-at huge discounts.
Being practical, I found a pair of black pants that me perfectly. It was less than $50. To get the complete value of it, I added some gorgeous Christmas cards (75% off), and an ornament that was also 75% off.
That made me think: why not give Christmas cards that carry the most punch.
For example, the Salvation Army has gift certificates, as well as other thrift chains. Or how about $50 gift card to a beauty school, which should give at least a whole morning of pampering.
But if all else fails, get a gift card from Neiman Marcus and then go to its Last Call–that’s a great place too.
P.S. The pants were originally $250.
